Duty

Parent duty is a requirement of involvement in Little Athletics.  The program can only run when officials are in place.  You are not expected to know what to do straight away, just to be willing and ready on time.  Each event has a Chief Official who will supervise and explain your role.

ALL FAMILIES ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER ON ONE OF OUR DUTY ROSTERS and to assist with the running of the program approximately 6 times per season.  On registration day families will be asked to choose which roster best suits their schedule.  This year the rosters correspond with programs A, B and C.  Please ensure that you are aware of your roster and the dates you are required.  Each week the roster for the following week will be held at the Rowville table for you to check.

Being on duty means providing an adult to assist for the duration of the program.  You are required to sign in at the Duty Table (located at the pavilion, opposite end to the canteen) 15 minutes prior to the start of competition.  If you’re early enough you will have a chance to choose the type of duty you want to do (e.g. time keeping, ticket writing, measurer etc.).  It is imperative you sign in for duty since failure to do so will result in a penalty for our club (we have a quota to meet), and loss of points for your child.  Families who do not provide a duty person will also be called over the loud speaker.  If you cannot attend for your duty on your rostered week it is your responsibility to arrange a swap.  That means finding someone who is not scheduled on for the same duty group as you.

Sean Raftery is our duty manager and can assist you with any queries or problems.

Each time a parent does duty they will be given an entry into a special prize draw at the end of the season.  This includes regular duty rosters and any extra duties that may be done, i.e. if you volunteer on a week that isn’t your rostered week you will receive an extra entry.
