Photos from the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Cross Country Championships held at Ruffey Lake Park, Doncaster on 21st June 2009 and will remain on the website for one year.

"Amidst brilliant blue skies and sunshine, around 60 Knox athletes competed on Sunday in the EMR Cross Country Championships at Ruffey Lake Park in Doncaster. Our team numbers were down – partly due to EMR no longer being a qualification round for State – but also due to several families being hit by various local forms of swine flu or similar. To make matters worse, the timetable actually ran to schedule (or ahead of schedule, depending on how you measure these things!) and many athletes from all centres actually missed their event often arriving as their fellow athletes ran off into the distance. There was many a scene of parents humbly and awkwardly trying to console a teary eyed and sad faced athlete.

All that aside, our Knox athletes all ran particularly well with lots of podium finishes for both individuals and teams. Knox was also presented with the 2008 Banner for the best performing centre at last year’s event and all the Knox LAC athletes joined the Team managers on the podium to receive the banner.

Congratulations to all the athletes that performed so well; condolences to those Knox LAC athletes that didn’t compete due to illness or missing their event; and a BIG thank you to those mums and dads that helped out with duty. Well done Knox!
