BAYSWATER BULLETS LIFE MEMBERS

A motion was passed 19th March 1984 to introduce Life Membership to our club. Life Members with their volunteered service achievements  are listed below so that current members would know who they are and the effort that they have put into our club. 

 

KERRY (HODGKINSON) SEMFEL

Other: Associated with Bayswater Bullets since 1988 with 4 children representing our Club - Peta, Lindel, Jarryd and Lori. Kerry's ex-husband, Hoddy (John) was President for two years (1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons). Volunteered in all areas of our club as well as Executive Member and Club Historian. It was Kerry who was instrumental in compiling our Club History back in 1992.

At Knox Little Athletics Centre level, was Vice President, Centre Team Manager, Competition Director, Referee, Open Day/Championship Co-Ordinator and Region Delegate. Kerry also spent six years on the Cross Country Committee from 1990 to 1996 as Recorder/Point Scorer and Chairperson for three years a piece,  KLAC honoured Kerry with Life Membership in 1998. 

At Regional Level Kerry was the VLAA Eastern Metropolitan Regional Secretary to 2003/04.

Kerry is currently living in Traralgon

GREG LACY

Currently living on 5 acres in Snake Valley, 22Km from Ballarat and the Treasurer of the local football/netball club.

DAVID BLACKWOOD   

Elected 10th April 1994

Other: Still active with Little Athletics in his 24th year. Associated with Bayswater Bullets from 1982, just after migrating from Scotland,  until season 1991/92 with two children representing our Club - Wendy and Mark. 

At Knox Little Athletics Centre level, David was Division Delegate in 1984/85 and 1985/86. Knox LAC honoured David with Life Membership in 1996.

At the Eastern Metropolitan Region  level, David has been the Eastern Region Walks Coordinator from season 2001/02 to 2005/06.

At the VLAA level, David has been a member of the Victorian Little Athletics Walk Panel since 1990 and has held the position of State Co-ordinator Walks since 1991.

David was awarded the prestigious VLAA "Distinguished Service Award" in 2006 where the criteria is "A minimum of twelve years of highly meritorious service of an exemplary nature that has positively contributed to the betterment of the Association with six years outside of the Centre/Club and determined by ballot and announced at the State Conference"

David still coaches the Little and Senior athletes in walks at Knox Park which he still finds it rewarding helping athletes reach their potential.

His daughter, Wendy is married with two children with the eldest finishing in the U/15's in season 2005/06 at the Nunawading Centre after starting out at Knox. Her youngest is currently competing at Nunawading. Wendy herself is involved in Walk Judging and has judged the Victorian State Championships in seasons 2004/05 and 2005/06.

After leaving Little Athletics, his son Mark competed at the Senior level for a few more years and came 2nd in the Australian Junior Walking Championships 20Km race in 1996. He retired from athletics at the ripe old age of 22 and is married and living locally.

David's wife Gill was our Assistant Team Manager in season 1983/84 and the club Secretary in seasons 1984/85 to 1986/87.

David is living in Ferntree Gully

JANET CAULFIELD

Janet's husband Gary was firstly, Club Vice President, then President. Our Club logo was designed by Gary.

At Knox Little Athletics Level, Janet was on the Handbook Committee in 1986/87 and Championship Director 1987/88 and 1988/89. In the Cross Country, Janet was Assistant Recorder in 1990/91 and Team Manager in 1991/92. 

Janet was also a Level 1 Coach and then went on to become an "A" Grade Walk Judge.

Janet is living in Trafalgar.

GREG WAUGH

Other:  Associated with Bayswater Bullets since 1988 to 1993 with 2 children representing our club - Megan and Kirsty. Greg's wife Vicky was Club Delegate 1990/91, 1991/92 and 1992/93. 

At Knox Little Athletics Centre level, Greg was Vice President in 1992/93. Assistant Controller of Officials & on the Program Committee in 1989/90, Setting up of Equipment in 1990/91, Region Delegate, Referee, Equipment Manager & on Wet Weather Committee on 1991/92, Referee and Setting up of Equipment 1992/93. KLAC honoured Greg with Life Membership in 1993.

Greg and his wife, Vicki currently own and run a Bed and Breakfast at Moorview House which is situated in Metung, on the Gippsland Lakes. www.moorviewhouse.com.au

NOEL MAXWELL

JOHN GUERRA

At Knox Little Athletics Centre level,  John was President in seasons 1979/80 and 1980/81, Vice President 1981/82 and 1982/83. He was Knox Centre Team Manager in 1978/79 along with his wife Lena. Was Region Delegate 1978/79 and 1979/80. Was Inner Executive and Conference Motions & Wet Weather Committee in 1980/81. Chairman of Admin Panel in 1981/82 , Technical Advisor in 1981/82 and 1982/83 and was Chief Recorder in 1976/77 and 1977/78. KLAC honoured John with Life Membership in 1984. 

At the Victorian Little Athletics Association level, John was on the Board for eight years. He was the Associate Director Membership in 1980/81, Associate Director Competition in 1981/82, the Competition Director from the 1982/83 to 1986/87 seasons, Deputy Chairman from seasons 1982/83 to 1986/87 and the VLAA Chairman in season 1987/88.

At the Australian Little Athletics Union level, John served two years nationally as Chairman in the 1988/89 and 1989/90 seasons.

Michele, his eldest daughter competed with Knox Sherbrooke Women's Club into her twenties, his youngest daughter Anette completed five years in Little Athletics and spending a number of years in the Canteen. The three boys, Paul, Mark and Peter all competed with the Knox Men's Athletics for many years with middle son, Mark a State U/13 Pole Vault champion. (when Little Athletics finished in U/12's)

John's wife Lena is a Life Member of the Knox Sherbrooke Women's Athletics Club (now combined with Men's) and was a key Timekeeper/Judge at State Level. To the left is John's Bayswater Life Member trophy.

John is also the designer of the current Knox Centre logo through a competition held in 1980.

John is still living in Bayswater.

RON PAPST

At Knox Little Athletics Centre level, Ron was Registrar 1974/75, 1975/76 and 1976/77. He was Treasurer 1977/78, 1978/79, 1979/80, 1980/81 and 1981/82. Was Region Delegate 1979/80, 1980/81, 1981/82 and 1982/83. Was Division Delegate 1980/81, 1981/82 and 1982/83. Was on the Administration Panel  in 1981/82 and Liaison Delegate in 1982/83. KLAC honoured Ron with Life Membership in 1981. 

Ron is still living in Bayswater and his Grandchildren, Adam and Troy are currently competing with Bayswater Bullets.
