PRESIDENTS REPORT 1999/2000

Wow! hasn't the year just disappeared. Hard to believe another Track and Field season has ended.

We have had a small band of very determined athletes in our Club this season. It has been great to see those Orange/Black T-Shirts out on the field, each one of them trying their hearts out to gain those stars of their tickets. Well Done! Jenny has had to replenish the stock of stars on plenty of occasions.

I have noticed that only a few athletes participated in the Region & State Championships for Relays and Track and Field. I know that we all have limited time, but athletes can gain so much from participating in these Championships and I urge all families to consider entering them from next season. There is no cost as the Centre pays these entry fees which are included in your fees. To those athletes that did participate, congratulations on your performances.....nothing short of outstanding.

Congratulations to our Under 12 boy - Jurion Kauker for obtaining his 5 year award. This is quite an accomplishment!

With the season drawing to its conclusion, it is time to start preparing for the next season.....you may ask...geez, we haven't finished this one yet? But plans have to be made starting with the construction of the New Committee. It is not hard work and there is only one meeting held each month for about one and half hours.

I will not be re-standing, my time is drawing to a close and I am looking forward to being a parent again after 12 years of committee work. But in saying this...I have enjoyed my time immensely over these years. I have made some very good friends, but all good things must come to an end and it is time for new blood to be put into the Club.

The future of Bayswater Bullets Little Athletics Club depends on all families to become involved...not just a select few. Please consider seriously becoming an active member.......you and your child can only benefit from it.

To all our athletes and parents...thank you for doing your duties, assisting with our Raffle Cake Stall and Tattslotto. To Elizabeth Walker for helping Mum & Janine on the table, to Debbie Polkinghorne, thank you for selling/organising our Tattslotto, to Peter Leggate, for cooking the BBQ on the Twilight meetings, it has been very much appreciated.

In closing, I must thank my tireless committee - Jenny Walker - Team Manager, Janine Mills - Assistant Team Manager, Bronwyn Leggate - our Shot Put Chief Official & Great coleslaw-maker, Andrew Guillaume - Newsletter editor & Shot Put Chief Official, Raelene Davis - taking the role of Treasurer mid season, my daughters Peta and Lindel - our Joint Secretaries.......It was a small committee, but you worked hard to keep Bayswater Bullets going this season............today will tell if we continue on.

Kerry Hodgkinson

TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 1999/2000

That's it.............the Summer season's over. I hope everyone has enjoyed themselves.

We started the season with13 registered in September. We leapt to 23 in November and finished in March with 25. WOW!!!!! compared to previous trends, the numbers usually go down.

We had Bob, Lori, Joseph and Kellie competing in Relays at Region Championships at Ringwood. One month later Bob competed at Olympic Park at the State Level.

In Track & Field we had Jurion, Kellie & Lori competing at Region Championships which were held at Nunawading this year. Lori was our only athlete that continued at State on 16th/19th March at Olympic Park.

At Knox Championships we had 14 athletes competing in 49 events. Highest medals to: Jurion Kauker - 5 medals, while Zoe Douglas, Ashley Vandelaak, Timothy Douglas, Ashley Leggate and Darren Campbell - 2 medals.

I would like to congratulate Jurion on obtaining his 5 year Award.

Our Club also won the BEST BOYS TEAM SHIELD from the Centre. The last time our Club won this award was in the 1970's.......Well Done Boys!!!!

In closing I would like to thank everyone .. parents, athletes and families......What a great TEAM EFFORT.......... many hands make light work. We managed well fulfilling our many tasks and duties.

I would like to extend special thanks to the Leggate Family.....Our Friday night BBQ just wouldn't be the same without Peter cooking and Bronwyn's Coleslaw is legendary.

Just when I thought I could have a Saturday lie in, the Cross Country Season starts next Saturday and Bob has decided he wishes to run, so I will be seeing some some of our members then.

Do you know what a hare or slug does at Cross Country? For the answer come along to Cross Country to found our and come and ask me?

Best wishes to all and I'll see you next season.

Jenny Walker
