PRESIDENTS REPORT 1997/1998

Well, we have come to the end of another season. I wish to congratulate all our athletes on another wonderful season of achievements, Lisa has informed me, that there were many Personal Bests and Records broken throughout the Season. Only one week cancelled due to bad weather and the Mixed Gender Program was introduced, with many of our athletes enjoying the variety it provided.

Our athletes who competed at the Regional Championships and then progressed on to State are to be congratulated on this accomplishment. The results published later in this report speak for themselves. Also those athletes who competed at Open Days and the Multi Event weekend are to be congratulated.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those on my Committee - Lisa, our Team Manager, Peta, our Assistant Team Manager, Debbie, our efficient Secretary, Karmann, our Treasurer, Gary & Tony, our Chief Officials on Shot Put and Kerry, our Executive Member. Without this team, the Club would not run. It is a small Committee and more members would be appreciated. It certainly isn't hard and I ask every member to consider coming on this committee.

I also want to thank all the parents for their effort this year. It has been wonderful to see the fun rivalry amongst yourselves with putting out of the Shot Put equipment and writing all those bits of gossip in the book. When the Club was informed of the financial position we were in, all the parents got behind the Committee and did your best which showed on the very successful Cake Stall. THANK YOU!

At this point my children have decided to cease Little Athletics, so I therefore will be stepping down as President. I wish the new President, Committee and Club Members all the best for the 1998/99 Season.

Lynne Kane

TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 1997/1998

Well here we are at the end of the Summer Season. I hope that our new athletes enjoyed themselves, and I look forward to seeing everyone back next year.

We started the season with 40 athletes, but that fell to 37 by the end of the season. We have seen 32 Club Records broken, with an amazing 21 of those broken by the one athlete. Over 750 Personal Best have been recorded, but we did manage to get through the season without running out of stars.

I was only present at the Regional Track & Field for a short time, as my son Dave was ill and unable to compete, while there I managed tot see some of our athletes compete. The medal tally was 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze. There were 9 athletes competing in all. I congratulate the following athletes who qualified to compete at the State - Lindel, Andrew, Katie, Jurion and Hayley.

We had 3 of our Club athletes represent Knox at State. Lindel, Andrew and Katie, with Lindel winning a Silver medal. Congratulations Lindel.

Championship day was a good day for our club athletes. We had 27 athletes competing with 15 Bronze, 10 Silver and 5 Gold medals being won. 4 Club Records were also broken. This was a fantastic effort by all our athletes. On Championship Day our Club also won the "Knox Supporters Award" for the second year running. Well done everyone! This award is for the club putting out and taking in of Shot Put equipment each competition day, as well as our members doing their rostered duty each week. Lindel Hodgkinson also received a special award on Championship Day, 'The John Bennet Memorial Trophy'. this trophy is awarded to the athlete with an outstanding performance in a single event, for Lindel this event was High Jump.

We say goodbye to our Under 15 athlete Katie Caulfield and congratulate her on obtaining her 9 year award. We would also like to congratulate Erin Bottomley on achieving her 5 year award. Well Done.

The children have all had a good season and should be proud of what they have achieved. I was very happy to see our experienced athletes help our new athletes.

I would like to thank you all for your support, as it makes my Job as Team Manager easier. Thank you also to my assistant Peta who has been a great help. I think also Debbie and others who have looked after the recording book at different times during the season. Lastly a big thank you to Kerry who has put up with numerous questions from me.

I hope you all have a good break and I look forward to seeing you all for the start of the 98/99 season.

Lisa Saker
