PRESIDENTS REPORT 1996/1997 Well, we've come to the end of the 1996/97 Summer Season and what a season it has been. For a small club we have certainly achieved some outstanding results. Our athletes breaking Club & Centre records, doing over 700 Personal Best', competing at Knox Open Day, Relays, Region, Multi Event & State Championships and Knox Championship Day, then finishing off by winning the Centre's 'Best Supporters Award'. Congratulations to our athletes for their terrific results and the parents for your support. The results speak for themselves. There has been a whisper that the Knox Executive may be introducing an Under 17 age group, so we say goodbye to our Under 15's - Lee Earsman, Peta Hodgkinson & Daniel Sword. We may see you all back next year yet. Lee & Peta have completed 9 years of Little Aths while Daniel has done 6 years. Congratulations to David Saker & Krystal McGaw for reaching the milestones of 5 years. Congratulations to my daughter Lindel, who is Bayswater Bullets 4th athlete in 5 years to make the Victorian Team for the Australian Teams Championships. She will be travelling to Sydney at the end of the month and we wish her the best of luck. A big thank you to the Committee - Debbie, Karmann, Lynne, Lisa, Garry, Tony, Leonie & Kerry, for their dedication and support - the endless hours they have put in to the successful running of Bayswater Bullets would not survive. As I stated in our last newsletter I will be retiring from the Committee due to work commitments stopping me from being present on Saturday mornings, I encourage all our members to consider coming on the committee. It is a rewarding experience! Finally, I wish the Cross Country athletes every success for the upcoming season and good luck to those athletes who participate in other sports. I, along with the Committee look forward to seeing you all back for the start of the 1997/98 Season John (Hoddy) Hodgkinson
TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 1996/1997 Well, we have once again come to the end of of the Summer Season. It has been a lot easier this season. being the Team Manager as it is my second season being so. For those of you who have just completed your first season I hope you have enjoyed it and intend on coming back next year. The season started with 43 athletes, which declined to 38 by the end of the season. We have seen over 40 new records and over 780 PB's recorded. We were in threat of having to buy a new stock of stars. (one week we thought the children had done it, but we found some) Well done by all. I was involved with Regional Track and Field championships this year for the first time. Our athletes performed very well. At regionals there were 17 athletes who produced 1 gold 4 silver and 2 bronze. This led on to 7 athletes going on to State Championships, where they also did very well. Congratulations to Lindel Hodgkinson who has qualified for the State team. Championship day was another of our clubs success stories, with our athletes achieving 7 club records and 1 centre record. Our 26 competitors went away with 9 gold, 15 silver and 9 bronze medals between them. The centre awarded our club the Supporters award this year, which is due mostly to putting out and taking in of the shot put equipment and for the parents doing duty when required. Great effort by all. We say good-bye to our Under 15 athletes Daniel Sword, Lee Earsman and Peta Hodgkinson. Congratulations to both Lee and Peta on obtaining 9 years of athletics - we wish them well for the future. We also congratulate David Saker and Krystal McGaw on obtaining the milestone of 5 years of athletics. The children should all be proud of their achievements this season. It is good to see on various occasions them helping one another out with little pointers, or even just encouraging one another on while running. Good team effort. In closing I would like to thank you all for your support in my time as Team Manager. Thanks also to Lisa who has sat on the table every week while trying to look after a toddler. I wish the next person all the best as Team Manager, who I will be more than happy to give my assistance to. Lynne Kane
