1995/1996 Annual General Meeting Minutes

 Saturday 30th March 1996 

at George Dyer Grandstand, Knox Park

Present: ALL COMMITTEE: i.e. Kerry Hodgkinson, Dorothy Malt, Lynne Kane, John Hodgkinson, Judy Booth, Janet Caulfield, Rob Malt, Andrew Saker, Leonie McGaw & Lisa Saker

(This was attended by greater than the required 70% of Club Members and their families)

Meeting Opened: 6:30pm

Presidents Report: John Hodgkinson 

After welcoming everyone and calling the meeting to order, Hoddy gave his report - (it was read as attached)

Treasurers Report: (Dorothy) (It was read as attached)

Team Manager report: (Lynne) (It was also read as attached)

John Hodgkinson then called Life Member DAVID BLACKWOOD to chair the meeting.

David after explaining who he was spoke briefly about the Bayswater Bullets LAC and athletes in general. He then declared all present elected positions vacant and called for nominations.

Nominations had been received for all positions, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Team Manager, Assistant Team Manager, and General Committee.

All nominations were individually read then elected unopposed.

All Children were presented a chocolate Easter Egg filled with smarties as well as their trophy and Best time/distant certificate.

The night was completed with Pizza's and a Disco that all children and adults appeared to thoroughly enjoy.

PRESIDENTS REPORT 1995/1996

Welcome to the end of another Summer Season of Little Athletics. I hope that athletes and their parents have enjoyed themselves, after all that is what it is all about - enjoyment.

I would like to congratulate all of the children on their performances during the year and hope they are proud of their achievements. The amount of Personal Bests was fantastic. WELL DONE !!!!!!!!

To the kids who competed at Region and State and performed so well, recording those terrific results,  WELL DONE !!!!!!!!

Many, many thanks to the Committee, Rob and Dorothy Malt, Lisa and Andrew Saker, Janet Caulfield, Leonie McGaw, Judi Booth, Lynne Kane & Kerry Hodgkinson. You made the running of the club so much easier. I hope you will all be back next year along with some new faces.

To the parents who supported their children and the Club by doing duty when rostered on, Thank You. A special Thank You to those parents who jumped in when we were short of numbers. We know who you are and your help was greatly appreciated.

A special mention to Rob Malt who consistently filled in for me as Chief High Jump Official when my work hours changed. It is great to know that someone was there when I wasn't.

Special thanks to Kerri Long for volunteering to become Chief Official of Shot Put. You did a terrific job and I know that the Club and the Centre appreciated it.

Finally, Good Luck to all those athletes doing Cross Country during Winter or any other sport. I hope to see you all next year excepting Ben Sword and Daniel Coughlan, who will be leaving us after finishing Under 15's.

TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 1995/1996

Well , we have finally come to the end of the Summer Season. It has been a very enlightening season for me being the Team Manager for the first time. For those of you that have joined for the first time, you would not be aware that this is only the second season our family has been involved with Little Athletics. So you see it has been a real challenge for my family and myself. I must admit that I had my doubts as to whether I would make it to the end of the season. Who would have thought it was a nightmare at the end of the season instead of the beginning.

The season started with 44 athletes which declined to 37 around Christmas. We have seen 89 new records and I lost track of how many PB's were recorded, correction, re nearly ran out of our stars. There were 100's.

I personally was not involved with the Region or State Track & Field Championships, but have been told that our athletes performed outstandingly. At Regionals there were 17 athletes who produced 5 Gold, 5 Silver & 5 Bronze medals and 8 Club Records broken. This then led to 9 athletes going onto State Championships held at Olympic Park a month later with 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medals and 4 Club Records going by the wayside. An outstanding feat and I congratulate each athlete on these wonderful performances.

We say goodbye to our Under 15 athlete Ben Sword and Daniel Coughlan - we wish them both well for the future. We also congratulate Emma Long, Ryan McGaw, Daniel Sword, Daniel Coughlan and Ben Sword on obtaining the milestone of 5 years of athletics.

The children should all be proud of their achievements this season as they have all done extremely well. It is also good to see them encourage each other during events by cheering one another on. I feel this is of great benefit, especially to the younger children. Well Done!

In closing, I must thank Hoddy & Kerry Hodgkinson for all their support through out this time, as they have had many phone calls with me asking millions of questions I have had along the way. Thanks to Lisa Saker who has been great sitting at the table every week looking after the book. I can now understand that it is important to have the two positions of both Team Manager & Assistant Team Manager filled. I must thank my family for their support, particularly over the last week as they have had lots of quick meals while I have been compiling results. After tonight hopefully we will get back to seeing the top of the table.
