PRESIDENTS REPORT 1993/1994 We've come to the end of another summer season and what a difficult year it has been, especially for our new members. I hope the difficulties experienced during the update of the track will not deter you from returning next season. I wish to congratulate all the children from Bayswater Bullets for their achievements throughout the season and to those who competed in Divisionals, Regionals, and State and Knox Championships. We've had great results from all our kids. I would also like to thank our sponsors, who without their support our fundraising tasks would be a lot harder and we ask families to please continue to show patronage to our sponsors and let them know you are from Bayswater Bullets. A big thankyou to the Committee - Hoddy, Kerry, Maree, Greg, Leonie, Naomi, Andrew and Janet, for their dedication to the Club and the endless hours they all put in to enable the successful running of Bayswater Bullets. Without their efforts we wouldn't survive. I hope we can encourage some new members onto the Committee this year - it's not all hard work and we do have a lot of fun. I wish the Cross Country athletes every success with their endeavours during the winter season due to commence 9th April. Good luck to those children who participate in other sports during the winter and I look forward to seeing you all back for the start of the summer season. Malcolm Sword
TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 1993/1994 The season began with a shade over 50 athletes , which rose to 60 after 7 weeks. Competition results from the first 9 weeks were nothing short of outstanding, with 26 Club Records falling by the wayside and a massive 377 Personal Bests achieved. As from week 10, The Club followed the Centre by not recognising Club Records and Personal Bests on the grass track, whilst the new track was being laid. As we all know and due to circumstances beyond anybody's control, the grass track was used for the remainder of the season. Numbers dropped dramatically at this stage, due to athletes seeking alternative venues to prepare for the lead up competitions and State Championships. The Committee of the Club, recognising the dilemma voted to stop all point scoring and finalise End of Season trophies and awards. Bayswater Bullets had a drop in the number of children competing in Divisionals, Regionals, State and Knox Championships. For those children that did compete, they performed wonderfully and did themselves and our Club proud. 13 children (U9-U12's) competed at Divisionals, resulting in 7 1sts, 7 2nds, 1 3rd plus 2 Club Records broken. 16 children (U9-U15's) competed at Regionals 2 weeks later resulting in 6 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze, 6 Club Records and 3 Knox Records broken. One month later - THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE - STATE!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT RESULTS!!!!!!!!!! 4 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze, 5 Club Records, 1 Equalled Club Record, 3 Knox Records, 1 Victorian State Record Unfortunately, Daniel Sword broke his wrist which could have added further Gold medals to the tally. Ben Sword on the other hand qualified for the Victorian Team to compete at Adelaide on 24th April. Congratulations to Ben from all of us at the Club. Knox Championship Day saw 23 children compete in 84 events. 21 Gold, 16 Silver, 17 Bronze, 7 4ths, 4 5ths, and 2 7ths. As Team Managers we feel these results could have placed us on top of the Club Standings at Knox. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON The Track - Will it ever be ready? Lisa Halbert/Melanie Candela - The titanic battle in the 80m Hurdles. End Result - Dead Heat. Kirsty Waugh - Our first U16 Girl Hayley Malt - Breaking 6 year records in the 70m and 200m sprints Lindel Hodgkinson - Breaking HJ and Walk Records and Silver at State Lee Earsman - Bronze at State (not tall enough yet to break Hayden's record) Daniel Sword - The spectacular fall at State and a fighting spirit to get up and finish the race Peta Hodgkinson - Breaking an 8 year Record and Gold at State Ben Sword - Breaking numerous sprint Records and Double Gold at State. Making the Victorian State Team. Hayden Lacy - Breaking the HJ Record at Club, Knox and Victorian Level (once again) and Gold at State. Every Girl and Boy at Bayswater Bullets - For being who you are and making Bayswater Bullets what it is. The children should be proud of their achievements/accomplishments for the year under very trying circumstances. We, as Team Managers feel very privileged to be part of such a terrific team. Well done kids! We can all look forward to an excellent year next Season on the Brand new track. Kerry Hodgkinson & Greg Lacy
